Best Places to Take Instagram Photos in LA
This post is a bit of a hodge-podge, but I wanted to document some fun and free spots in LA that are perfect for visiting and of course, snapping a few photos once you make the drive out there! The limit pretty much does not exist when it comes to picturesque murals and locations in Los Angeles, so this is more or less part one of many more posts to come. Enjoy!
California Dreaming Mural
Where to find it: 3423 S. La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90016
We totally stumbled upon this by mistake! I had seen this mural on Pinterest before, but never researched where to find it. On our way to LA from OC, I had too much green tea (my favorite) in the car and remembered that LA is crazy about letting you use any sort of public restroom whatsoever. Fortunately, we spotted a Target off La Cienega Blvd., and on the other side was the Chinese Laundry building which looked so familiar to me. We drove to the other side and saw people taking photos in a parking lot, and we were in for a surprise to see this iconic sign! This mural is huge, so you could take photos just by the pink portion and it would like you are in a completely different place.

It was such a windy day!
Barbie House
Where to find it: 1341 Palisades Beach Road, Santa Monica, CA 90401
This is seriously my dream house and looks just as amazing as you would imagine in person! I had passed by it a few times driving down the freeway when going to Santa Monica, but never thought to stop and snap a few photos. The colors are so vibrant and this house is right on the beach! I had heard rumors that this house was owned by Barbie creator and Co-Founder of Mattel, Ruth Handler, but after conducting a bit of research, it turns out this house was painted to match two other houses on the block known as “The Sherbert Homes.” We went on a Saturday in January and easily found free parking on the side of the street next to the house!
Arts District, Downtown Los Angeles
The Arts District in Downtown LA is an absolute must-see if you love art and colorful buildings. I had never been to this area but love how open and creative the space is. Formerly an area of industrial warehouses and factories, this outdoor gallery lives right next to Little Tokyo but is very up-and-coming with a few shops, art exhibitions, restaurants, and microbreweries! Many of these murals change frequently, but I can guarantee you will find something that stands out to you.
