Festival/Rave Costume Outfit Ideas for 2018
September has finally arrived, meaning that Halloween is just around the corner! This holiday might be my favorite because not only do people dress up in general for raves, but outfits really are done to the nines at events like Escape SoCal, Boo SF, Hullaween, and so many others! I’ve been attending Escape SoCal since 2011, and I can’t wait to show you all what I come up with this year! 🙂
If you’re new to the festival scene or unsure of what to wear, I have a ton of inspiration below! Many outfit ideas are from independent designers and some are bodysuits that I’ve dressed up on the cheap. Check out some of my favorite festival/rave costume outfit ideas for 2018:
Hippie
I am absolutely in love with this whole outfit from Musotica! I always gravitate towards color and really vibe with the hippie era for some reason. When I saw this catsuit as chaps, I knew I had to wear it!
Cowgirl
This was kind of a makeshift costume using an adorable sheer fluffy crop cardigan and checkered shorts from Tasteful Girls, a cow print top from Glitter Romance, a light up pink cowgirl hat from Flashy Blinky Lights, fluffy LED choker from Flower Child Revolution, and black faux leather leg harnesses from amazon! I’ve been wanting to re-create a fun cowgirl raver look and it came together a lot easier than expected!
Pink Power Ranger
Another DIY type look! This pink neon top and bottoms are from Rolita Couture. I added some fishnets for an edgier vibe. Platforms are from Demonia! Photo by the talented Stephanie Lynn during a session with EDM Fashionistas! Gems and glitter from Lunautics.
Bunny
This one was super easy to make! Take pretty much any bodysuit/ bikini and just add ears! Bodysuit is from Rave Wonderland and ears are from Forever 21!
Ice Queen
Let me start by saying that this mesh bodysuit from iheartraves is so versatile! I layered this look with some pretty crystal chains from Sparkle Maven and ice themed sunglasses from Honey Suckle Clothing. Light up disco ball crown is from SoCal by Steph! Platforms are from Demonia. Complete the look with glitter and gems, of course!

One of my favorite rhinestone harness sets!
Unicorn
There are so many different options if you want to be a unicorn! I’ve done this theme twice: once for EDC and once for Dreamstate! Adding glitter or face gems also really enhances the look.
At EDC I love wearing anything that shines! Light-up headpiece is from SoCal by Steph and this stunning holographic harness set is from The Glow Strobe. Shoes are from YRU – got them for $30 at Hot Topic!
To keep warm at Dreamstate, I wore all J Valentine merch including these super cute unicorn flares, a furry fanny pack, and a purple holographic top.

Store belongings in this fluffy light up J Valentine bag!
Barbie
Last year I dressed up as Barbie for Escape and this was one of my favorite outfits to date! Entire outfit is from Dolls Kill, but this set is sold out unfortunately. Fun sunnies are from Rebl Kitty. Got this faux fur cap from eBay and it was honestly one of the best purchases ever! Fairly cheap and keeps you warm during those cold NOS nights!

Perhaps my favorite bell bottoms of all time from Dollskill.
Since I love pink so much, it would only be natural for me to create another Barbie spin off. Barbie metallic bodysuit is from Forever 21 and silver mini skirt is from Coquetry Clothing.
Space Bae
This set comes with a one piece bodysuit and leg zip ups! Bought this on Poshmark, but I know you can find it on Yandy! I added futuristic glasses from Amazon and holographic platforms from Demonia!
Princess/Witch
When I visited Wicked Chamber before EDC, the ladies outfitted me in this amazing ensemble! We honestly didn’t have a theme but everyone at the festival started calling me Glinda from the Wizard of Oz, so it really stuck! Furry top, sheer skirt, Demonia fringe boots, and pink harness are all from Wicked Chamber! Custom butterfly crown is made by the talented Magic Magpie and this adorable wand is from Flashy Blinky Lights!
Cosmic Cat
Burnt Soul makes the most comfortable and unique catsuits ever! I absolutely love the way this paired with my Kritter Klips ear accessories and Totem Boutique metallic cuffs! Visor from good old Amazon. I feel like I could re purpose this bodysuit for my 80’s party when I attend Holy Ship in January!
Mod/60’s girl
As mentioned earlier, I’m no stranger to color and print! If you love skirts or dresses, this sweet number from Rheabfunky Creations is perfect for you! I paired these blue furry platforms from Ellie Shoes with it to bring out some more vibrant hues. I feel like these boots would pair well with a monster themed outfit too. Accessories include a custom acrylic choker from Animal Hair and furry ears from Flower Child Revolution.
Dark Fairy
I typically stray away from black, but this year I wanted to create something darker for Fall. L’ Amour Le Allure created this custom skirt, bra and headpiece for me and I couldn’t be happier! The details are unreal and I can tell she puts a lot of time and effort into creating such unique pieces. Can’t wait to style this more!
I am so excited for Halloween and know there will be many unique costume ideas in store for the future! If you enjoyed reading this blog, I also have a post about the top festival fashion trends for 2018 here. What are you all wearing for Halloween and what events are you attending? I want to know!
